FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
My family LOVES movie night and my 13-year old daughter and I enjoyed watching it together. It’s a wholesome, yet realistic movie about a typical college girl struggling with her Christian principles. I am happy to report there’s no swearing, violence or inappropriate scenes. Yeah!
My 11-year old son watched it as well but he doesn’t get the “love” connection between a girl and boy yet. Or, so he says! I would suggest any girl from 12 and above is perfect for this movie due to mature topics.
MOVIE SUMMARY
I’ll give you a quick synopsis of the movie as I don’t want to spoil the storyline! Grace is a country girl raised on a farm looking for love in all the wrong places. She’s raised by Christian parents, but she goes with her emotions on dating instead of waiting for God’s timing. After an embarrassing moment with a frat boy, we find her searching for answers. She questions everything — why is it so hard to find love with the right guy?
As she goes on with life, we find her meeting another boy at a coffee shop. You can see her struggle internally with getting involved with another boy emotionally. Yet, he treats her differently than the frat boy. They are having fun together, and it’s left you wondering — could he be the one? As she gets herself in another questionable position, she starts feeling guilty and goes to her parents for repentance and support. This time, she focuses on God’s timing instead of her own. Will she find love once she puts her priorities in the right place?
This was a typical love story with a few twists and turns. I thought it was well-done, thought-provoking, and a wonderful family movie, especially for those with teenagers.
Also, there is a lesson of soybeans as an analogy on love. You can’t harvest soybeans before planting and nurturing. If you want to find out more, you’ll have to check out the movie! It’s exactly how I’m raising my kids — to wait for the right one and don’t get physically or emotionally involved until marriage.
CAST OF CHARACTERS
The casting did a fantastic job. I enjoyed all of the characters and was pleased to see a movie who actually portraited the father as the head of the house. Ashley Bratcher, the main character, is Grace Anderson has also appeared in the films War Room and 90 Minutes in Heaven.
